What does this piece mean to you? To me, this piece represents my love of science fiction and space films/programs especially Star Trek and Star Wars; a reminder of my inability to presently escape sadness and finally my love of a black painting in a monochromatic decorated room. I love that vibe! I created a unique mixture of acrylic, mineral spirits and an industrial grade high gloss gel based oil paint for the top coat of this piece after adding up to 1/4" of texture by splashing multiple layers of acrylic to the canvas and using my "secret" tool to achieve a variety of distressed markings.
